WINTER CAMP IS BACK!
We’re back and ready to safely connect with new and old friends on the farm! Bring your mask, smile, and warm clothes and join us for a COVID-safe, play-based, experiential winter camp.
During winter camp we play, build, sing, work, and get to know life on a Jewish urban farm. Through group-building challenges and project-based learning, we learn about the natural world and explore community, teamwork, and the interconnectedness of all things. Sprouts Camp is for potty-trained children ages 4 – 6.
Who says farm camp is only for summer?
Enjoy all seasons of the farm during our cozy Winter Camp! This winter, we will get curious about what is growing and what is resting on the farm. We will learn in community through crafting, playing, cooking our fall harvest, exploring the farm, and getting creative. Campers will dig into all of the action that happens underneath the surface during winter.
What Happens At Winter Camp?
Campers enjoy their day in project-based explorations that integrate the natural elements on the farm from shomrei adamah (keepers of the earth), farm activities while exploring what it means to be part of a kehillah (community).
This winter campers will embrace the coziness winter has to offer, while exploring life on the farm. Campers will get curious about what is happening below the surface of the farm floor, playing with dirt, harvesting and cooking root vegetables, and digging into our worm compost. Utilizing natural resources, campers will make herbal teas, candles, and other warming crafts. Campers will be divided into age-based groups.
2021 Winter Camp Dates
Winter Camp runs from 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM. Campers may arrive beginning at 8:30 AM. The After-Camp Program runs from 3:00 – 5:30 PM, Monday – Thursday, and is available for an additional fee.

Urban Adamah is committed to ensuring your camper the magic of camp. Urban Adamah has a pool of scholarship money generously provided by the San Francisco Jewish Community Federation. All financial aid applications are due by April 15 and are anonymously distributed on a needs-basis.

We understand that life circumstances sometimes change and that you may need to cancel your child’s registration. Cancellation fees apply to all sessions including sessions with a waitlist.
Cancellations on or before October 25: $100 fee
Cancellations on or before November 15: $250 fee
There are no refunds available starting November 16 except in the event of a medical or family emergency that makes attendance impossible. All cancellations must be received in writing by email to firstname.lastname@example.org.

After Camp Program
$140 FOR THE WEEK
Urban Adamah offers an After-Camp Program extended day option (3:00 – 5:30 PM), Monday – Thursday for both camp weeks (no after camp on Fridays). Staffed by our Urban Adamah Camp counselors, After-Camp offers a relaxed farm experience at the end of the camp day. Each day, campers will have the opportunity to participate in a variety of activities, including arts and crafts, games, creative farm projects, and quiet-time activities.

WE ARE COVID-19 READY
All campers and staff are required to wear masks, and will hand-sanitize and wash hands frequently! We ask kiddos to bring all their own snacks and lunch for health and safety reasons. Our cleaning practices will include regular bathroom cleanings, equipment sanitized and disinfected before use each day, individual places to store camper belongings, and plenty of hand sanitizer, hand washing, and self-applied sunscreen!
Camp activities will remain outdoors or in an open outdoor tent. On the occasion of extreme cold or rainy weather, camp groups may spend short periods of time indoors with open windows — each chauvrah will be separated into a different indoor area.
We will ask staff and program participants to complete a symptom questionnaire to identify any potential health concerns upon arrival each day. Additionally, we will take all staff and campers’ temperatures upon arrival to the farm. Staff and campers will be required to wear a mask at all times during the day, except for when eating or drinking or as contraindicated per CDC recommendations.
Please send your camper in a comfortable, breathable mask each day with an extra mask in their backpack.
Failed Health Check:
If any staff or program participant fails a daily health check by answering yes to any of the questions on the symptom checklist, or with a temperature reading of over 100ºF, they will be sent home for a minimum of 72 hours.
* If a temperature reads over 100 degrees we will ensure a correct reading, we by retaking the temperature one more time, after 5 minutes, for confirmation.
If symptoms resolve within 72 hours, the staff member or participant will be admitted back to camp upon a successful health check and negative COVID-19 test. If a child or staff member develops symptoms while at camp, they will be sent home.
Positive COVID-19 Result:
If any staff member, child, or anyone within their social bubble, tests positive for COVID-19 or comes in contact with someone who tests positive for COVID-19, they will not be able to return to camp for 2 weeks, and until providing a negative COVID-19 test result for them and infected person, per the CDC guidelines.
Additionally, the program pod this person was in will move from in-person to remote programming for 2 weeks, and until every returning member provides a negative COVID-19 test result. The exception to this rule is if a positive COVID-19 result was obtained prior to contact with anyone else in the pod.

We will be closely monitoring air quality each day camp is in session. We ask that you provide your child with an N-95, or other smoke filtering mask for each day of camp, in the event that smoke begins to impact air quality during camp time. In the event of poor air quality, we will restrict activities in the following ways:
- Air Quality Is Moderate (AQI 51 – 100)
No restrictions on activities. Counselors monitor kids with asthma or other respiratory problems, as gathered from Camper Forms.
- Air Quality Is Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups (AQI 101 – 150+)
Given that our programming will take place exclusively outdoors due to COVID-19 precautions, we have no option to bring the campers indoors should the AQI reach this level. We will contact parents and ask for pickup within 2 hours. During these days of poor air quality, please have your phones on and stay close by to the farm, so that you are able to pick up your child if need be.
