After School Program



Urban Adamah’s after-school program for K – 3 graders. Kids need a place to gather, play, create, and explore, especially in challenging times like these. Let’s safely gather our children together in community to find new and inspiring ways to spread collective kindness on our farm outdoors. 


Urban Adamah’s after-school program will be a time for K – 3 graders to play, plant, sing, work, and get to know life on an urban farm. Through group-building activities and project-based learning, we will explore the natural world, build and explore community and teamwork, and experience the interconnectedness of all things. 

Daily activities will include gardening, feeding the chickens and collecting eggs, stories, arts and crafts, nature connection activities, and so much more! We will approach everything through the lens of Jewish tradition and storytelling, whether it be through our shomrei adamah (protecting the earth) farm activities, or eco-mitzvot (good deeds) songs. We will open and close each day in our respective pods with circle time, storytelling, and acts of love and kindness. Each day will end with a closing circle and, on Friday’s, a circle to welcome in Shabbat.


Nov. 16 – Dec. 18

Registration is for the complete fall, winter, or spring session, and is not available on a week-by-week basis, in order to provide consistency in program pods.


We are committed to offering programs to all families in our community in these uncertain times. For this reason, and out of an awareness that people are being differently financially and otherwise impacted by COVID-19, we have secured significant financial aid to reduce the tuition cost based on participant needs.

Please fill out our financial aid application upon registration. 

All financial aid applications for the Winter After School Program are due by December 18.

There will be two 10-participant pods on the farm (20 spots in total). Kiddos will be in ‘stable’ groups of 10 kids and two counselors that do not mix with other pods on the farm (if siblings attend, we will place them in the same group despite age differences). Pods will remain as stable as possible for the duration of camp.
Each pod will have their own specified outdoor spaces. Campers and staff will operate at a distance of at least 6 feet from any other group or staff on the farm, will wear masks, and will hand-sanitize and wash hands frequently!

We ask kiddos to bring all their own snacks for health and safety reasons.

Our cleaning practices will include regular bathroom cleanings, equipment sanitized and disinfected before use each day, individual places to store camper belongings, and plenty of hand sanitizer, hand washing, and self-applied sunscreen!

We will ask staff and program participants to complete a symptom questionnaire to identify any potential health concerns upon arrival each day. Additionally, we will take all staff and campers’ temperatures upon arrival to the farm. Staff and campers will be required to wear a mask at all times during the day, except for when eating or drinking or as contraindicated per CDC recommendations.

Please send your camper in a comfortable, breathable mask each day with an extra mask in their backpack.

Failed Health Check:
If any staff or program participant fails a daily health check by answering yes to any of the questions on the symptom checklist, or with a temperature reading of over 100ºF, they will be sent home for a minimum of 72 hours.

* If a temperature reads over 100 degrees we will ensure a correct reading, we by retaking the temperature one more time, after 5 minutes, for confirmation.

If symptoms resolve within 72 hours, the staff member or participant will be admitted back to camp upon a successful health check and negative COVID-19 test. If a child or staff member develops symptoms while at camp, they will be sent home.

Positive COVID-19 Result:
If any staff member, child, or anyone within their social bubble, tests positive for COVID-19 or comes in contact with someone who tests positive for COVID-19, they will not be able to return to camp for 2 weeks, and until providing a negative COVID-19 test result for them and infected person, per the CDC guidelines.

Additionally, the program pod this person was in will move from in-person to remote programming for 2 weeks, and until every returning member provides a negative COVID-19 test result. The exception to this rule is if a positive COVID-19 result was obtained prior to contact with anyone else in the pod.

We will be closely monitoring air quality each day camp is in session. We ask that you provide your child with an N-95, or other smoke filtering mask for each day of camp, in the event that smoke begins to impact air quality during camp time. In the event of poor air quality, we will restrict activities in the following ways:

  • Air Quality Is Moderate (AQI 51 – 100)
    No restrictions on activities. Counselors monitor kids with asthma or other respiratory problems, as gathered from Camper Forms.
  • Air Quality Is Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups (AQI 101 – 150+)
    Given that our programming will take place exclusively outdoors due to COVID-19 precautions, we have no option to bring the campers indoors should the AQI reach this level. We will contact parents and ask for pickup within 2 hours. During these days of poor air quality, please have your phones on and stay close by to the farm, so that you are able to pick up your child if need be.

We apologize for any inconvenience this policy may cause. The safety of your children is our highest priority.

Winter After School Program

In order to make this program possible during COVID-19, Urban Adamah is taking on a degree of operational and financial risk. Due to our inability to predict COVID-19 and air quality-related on-site camp day cancellations — and the subsequent shift to virtual programming — we are not able to provide any refunds after January 4 (winter), neither complete nor prorated, and unfortunately, will not be able to make any exceptions. As noted, we will still offer programming, however it will be through the zoom platform.
