Food & Beverage Service

Urban Adamah partners with select providers of food and wine to serve your event or retreat at the farm. Our Preferred Caterers have been chosen based on food quality, customer service and commitment to sustainable catering and event practices. The caterers on the list can provide either full service, drop off service, or both.

All user groups are required to choose a caterer from Urban Adamah’s Preferred Caterer List, or pay an additional $500 Kitchen Use Fee. If a user group plans to use our Community Kitchen, we require that outside caterers be fully licensed. If a user group choses to serve wine other than from Covenant Winery, there is a $180 corkage fee.

Food & Beverage Policies

Client and vendor access to event space is limited to the occupancy times designated in the Rental Contract. Rental Client should provide their caterer with their designated rental times.  Access will not be permitted outside of these times, unless as noted below for deliveries and pick-ups.

Pre or post event deliveries and pick-ups may be permitted, but require prior approval and coordination. All delivery vendors must check in with Urban Adamah upon arrival. Drop and/or pick-up locations will be indicated at that time. All deliveries must be approved a minimum of two weeks prior to an event.

Alcohol may be consumed by guests age 21 and older. Those under 21 years of age are not permitted to consume or possess alcoholic beverages at any time. Valid, state-issued identification cards may be requested of any person(s) who appear to be under age and consuming alcohol during the event. Alcohol consumption must be confined to the venue space rented and must not be consumed outside rented premises.

When using our Preferred Caterers, the Caterer under its liquor license assumes responsibility for the guests being served. When using outside caterers, the client is responsible for the guest being served. Caterers and clients must understand that, based on guests’ conduct, Urban Adamah may require that alcohol cease to be served at any point during an event and security or the police may be contacted if guest behavior threatens or endangers people or property.

If serving alcohol, Caterer/Client assumes responsibility for:

  1. Any and all guests that consume alcohol.
  2. Insuring that alcoholic beverages being served meet the requirements of their license.
  3. Insuring that the guests being served meet the requirements of the law.
  4. Ceasing the service of alcoholic beverages to those who are under age, or who appear to be impaired.

All food and beverage related items must be compostable, reusable, or recyclable.

All disposable products used must be approved by Urban Adamah as compatible with our waste management systems. Two product lines that Urban Adamah has identified as being compatible with City of Berkeley standards are below.

Reusable china, glassware, utensils, linens, and napkins are encouraged whenever possible.

Individually packaged items in plastic containers, including water, creams, and assorted condiments are prohibited.

Onsite compost, recycling, and trash facilities are provided at no charge.

All waste material must be collected and properly sorted with the intention of minimizing volume. In the event of miss-sorted bins, renter will be charged a $250 incorrect waste disposal fee.

Waste material in staging and service areas must be sorted and taken to the refuse station located beside pedestrian gate. All boxes must be broken down before being placed in the recycling container.

In event spaces, clear all items such as table linens, dishes, decorations, etc. All waste material should be sorted and disposed of properly in refuse station.

Caterer/Client is responsible for sweeping the kitchen at the end of the event. All utilized work surfaces, sinks, and drains must be thoroughly cleaned with client or caterer-provided cleaning supplies.

Clean-up and load-out must be completed by the end of the event’s designated time of occupancy. In the event that cleanup procedures are not followed, Preferred Caterers or rental clients using outside caterers, will be charged a $250 incomplete cleaning fee.

Kitchens at Urban Adamah are vegetarian, but kosher fish is permitted. No other meat is permitted in the kitchens.

There will be an Urban Adamah host on site during normal business hours and during the day over weekends. In the evening/night, a staff member will be available by phone at all hours.
