Sprouts Family Day: The Cycle of Soil

Sunday, February 3, 2019
7:00 am - 9:00 am

Did you know that soil is the secret to growing food on our farm? In the wintertime, farmers feed their soil with help from our animal friends. Join us for a morning of soil care. We will learn about worms, compost and other wonders below our feet. We will explore the eco-mitzvot of ba’al tashchit, a value from our tradition which tells us “do not waste” resources and food.

This will be a magical journey of discovery, play and exploration on our farm. The veggies, the animals, the soil, the songs, the stories and the games – it’s the best of Sprouts summer camp all in one morning! Bring your family down to the farm for an amazing morning and picnic lunch with other families and the Urban Adamah educators.

From 10:00 – 11:30 am we’ll gather and explore the farm. At 11:30 am we’ll settle in the shade and eat lunch as a community (bring your own)! For families with children 3-5 years old. If you’ve got a toddler, feel free to bring them along and explore the farm at your own pace.

Sprouts Family Days are $20-36 per family sliding scale. Spaces are limited and participants should register in advance to guarantee a space in the program. If this ticket price is prohibitive to you and your family, please email anika@urbanadamah.org.

Presented in partnership with Sprout East Bay and PJ Library East Bay.
