Agricultural Entrepreneur
Fall 2011

Zach Stein, a graduate of Hamilton College, is an agricultural entrepreneur living in Oakland, California. Along with his business partner James, he launched Osmo Systems, a venture-backed startup building innovative water quality sensors to bring aquaculture and aquaponics online – an idea he first developed directly because of his experience at Urban Adamah.

“Looking back, my time at Urban Adamah was a significant pivot point in the course of my life…”
“…Not only did the Urban Adamah Fellowship expose me to the world of urban agriculture, but it turned me on to a way of learning that four years of college never did. I’ve carried those two threads with me ever since, embarking on a career that merges entrepreneurialism with food justice.”
