Hayley Currier

Greenbelt Alliance
Fall 2011

After completing the Urban Adamah fellowship, Hayley Currier founded and ran Urban Worm, a local worm composting business, for two years. She then served as the Bay Area community organizer for American Jewish World Service, supporting the rights of women, girls and LGBT people worldwide; and did community engagement work for government water infrastructure and local coastal policy projects. Hayley has a Masters of Science degree from the University of Michigan’s School for Environment and Sustainability in Environmental Policy and Planning where she focused on the intersection between equitable urban planning and open space conservation, as well as agricultural policy. She is using her experience and background to support thoughtful development and protect open space in Alameda and Contra Costa Counties with Greenbelt Alliance.

“The way I felt during Urban Adamah is how I hope I can feel about my life always…”
“I was inspired and engaged, using my mind and my body, eating amazing food, in touch with my whole self, and having so much fun. That kind of satisfaction is what I strive for. I also strive to combine my passions for economic justice and environmentalism, and I know that my trajectory on that path was both inspired and bolstered by my time at Urban Adamah.”
